By Joyce Wiese Tama County Supervisors Kendall Jordan, Larry Vest and Dan Anderson met Monday morning, January 11 and discussed the recommendation of the Tama County Compensation Board. Last week they received the recommendation of a 4% increase for the County Attorney, a 5% increase for the County Auditor, Treasurer, Recorder and Sheriff, and a 3 1/2% increase for the Board of Supervisors. Today after discussion Supervisor Larry Vest made a motion to reduce each recommendation by 20%. Supervisor Anderson seconded the motion and the vote was 3-0 for the reduction. This left the County Attorney getting a 3.2% increase, the County Auditor, Recorder, Treasurer and Sheriff with a 4% increase and the County Board of Supervisors with a 2.8% increase. Monday, January 18th has been set for the canvas of the drainage election recently held. Polly Hineman, with the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center in Toledo, was reappointed to the Tama County Board of Health. Hineman filled in a position and her term is now up. Hineman s term will end December 31, 2018. Tami Wise, with Human Resources, was present with a report on t he county insurance claims. For the past six months the fund balance has increased from $2,012,322.76 to $2,036,584.20. Wise was pleased with the increase in the balance.
