Gladbrook City Council members, Scott Schmidt and Trudi Scott, and Mayor Keith Sash were sworn in at the Gladbrook City Council meeting held on Monday, December 14.
The Gladbrook City Council held their regular monthly meeting on December 14, 2015. At 7:06 the meeting was called to order. There was no sheriff report and the consent agenda was approved. In old business, Jerry Parsons was approved to serve on the Tama County Landfill board. In new business, Mandi Gehring from Crayon Corner Preschool spoke about the preschool’s finances. The council approved to assist the preschool and pay $1,500 for this year. Under the lagoon project, Mike Bearden from Clapsaddle-Garber went over the reviewing process with the council. A public hearing has been set for January 11, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. where the drawings, specifications, contract, and estimated cost will be discussed. The storm water agreement application fee for $175 was approved. Res 16-23 was approved to pay French-Reneker $5,600. A claim for Clapsaddle-Garber was tabled. In the Grand St. Bridge Project, Res 16-22 was passed paying French-Reneker $1495.44. Mike Bearden reviewed plans to retrieve property, and suggested the council to utilize CGA’s licensed real estate broker to purchase property from the city. This was moved and approved and will allow the broker to acquire property up to $5,000 while working with the mayor and councilperson. Quit Claim Deed, Declaration of Value, and Groundwater Hazard Statement were all approved in regards to the Farm Service Property Purchase. The annual TIF report was approved. Mayor Keith Sash took the oath of office along with council people Trudi Scott and Scott Schmidt. Claims to Gladbrook Auto for $197.97 and MLS for $100 were approved. The Mid Cedar Water Shed 28E was discussed. Liquor licenses for the American Legion was tabled but approved for Spanky’s. Brody Fisher was appointed as fireman. Tama Co. Emergency Management and 911 Board Appointments were approved. In public works, Mark Lowry informed the council that they need to establish a policy regarding the tree ordinance. Purchasing a street sweeper from the City of Earlham was discussed, but no further action has been taken. City clerk Lori Bearden informed the council that the yearly budget is due March 14 and public hearing will need to be held. The meeting was adjourned at 9:13. The council’s next regular meeting will take place on January 11, 2016.
