Dear Editor, For the first time in his adult life, a good friend of mine was able to afford health insurance because of the Affordable Care Act and expanded Medicaid in the state of Iowa. Recently, though, Governor Branstad privitized Medicaid. Because of this my friend has received notice that his health insurance premiums for the next year will be about five times as high as they are now. Because of Governor Branstad’s foolish decision there are probably thousands of Iowans in the same boat as my friend.
