Gladbrook City Council
By: Madeline Mussig The Gladbrook City Council held their regular monthly meeting on November 9, 2015 at 7:00 in the Gladbrook City Center. The meeting began with the police report given by Dennis Kucera, who stated there were 126 1/2 hours of service for the month of October. Following the report, the consent agenda was approved after discussion on corrections to the minutes and claims. There was no old business. New business opened up with further discussion on the lagoon project. The approximate start time for the project is Spring 2017. Acceptance of the project and release of $1,000 in Res. 16-21 for Larson Construction Co. was approved, finalizing the project. The Grand Street Bridge project continues on with the approval of Res. 16-20 to pay $8,372.64 to French-Reneker. The bridge should be reopened in Summer 2016. Claims were approved to pay Gladbrook Auto $304.96, Goos Implement $124.82, and MLS Transfer $791.48. It was approved to pay Great Western Bank $32,812.50 and Iowa Finance Authority $12,370. The school bus winter parking lease was approved with Crayon Corner Preschool. Snow bids were approved by the council, assigning S.L. Baumeier to the streets and MLS Transfer to sidewalks. Beth Wagner was appointed as the new librarian. Mandi Gehring from the Crayon Corner preschool board spoke to the council briefly about the preschool’s financial situation. Gehring hoped to make the city council aware of the school’s financial situation. In public works, Mark Lowry reported the new snow blade has been installed and Ledford will be trimming trees. Mandy Boldt has began some construction on the lounge, including a new entryway. The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 P.M. The council will hold their next regular meeting on December 14 at 7:00.
