The Gladbrook Auxiliary was proud to host a 6:30pm potluck supper to honor its Post members and welcomed State Cmdr Jim Peterson of Gowrie; Dist Cmdr Neal Schrage of Parkersburg; Tama Co Cmdr Wilford Yuska of Traer; and State SAL Detachment Cmdr Mike Sypherd as they brought greetings from their respective offices. President Jeanne Paustian welcomed everyone by telling how Armistice Day had been changed to Veterans Day. Sue Koster played the service songs as we were led in a lively rendition of each by Pat Clausen. Ron Busch then introduced his guests with Dist Cmdr Schrage encouraging Posts to reach out to our younger military and tell them about our organization as they do not know who we are, what we do or where we are. State Cmdr Peterson asked each member to sign up just one new member and reminded that the organization must change its image to fit the needs of the men and women now serving as we reach out to help them and their families with jobs, housing, college tuitions and friendships. The evening was closed with all singing, “God Bless America’.
