Tama Co. Supervisors

By Joyce Wiese Tama County Supervisors Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson voted Monday morning for a resolution to re-appropriate funds for the Insurance/Human Resources Department. The Insurance/Human Resources Department has had a change in personnel and salaries and is going to need to allow the new person to attend some meetings and do some training. There was a large increase in the premium for the workers compensation and building insurance premiums. The Board of Supervisors has funds in their budget to help cover the increased costs. Therefore a re-appropriation in the amount of $25,000 from the Supervisors budget to the Insurance and Human Resources budget was unanimously approved. The County Auditors quarterly report shows a collection of $548.05 for the three month period. The County Sheriff’s quarterly report shows a starting balance of $4520.83 with total receipts of $84,046.29 and disbursements of $87,533.56, leaving a balance on hand of $1033.56. Both quarterly reports were approved. County Engineer Lyle Brehm was present for his weekly road report. Brehm said they were planning to do some work on 170th Street to the Highway, near Gladbrook, also would be leveling off in places where the field banks are high and the ditches are filled. One of these places is near Jim Lacina’s south and west of Tama. Brehm stated they would remove some clay in places and add to the road. Several places will require this kind of work. Brehm stated the pavement near Elberon should be laid sometime this week, weather providing. The road crew is doing some patching in several places. Claims approved for payment for the past week came to $163,025.59. The board went into closed session with Jon Swanson, to discuss a pending matter with supervisors.
