Gladbrook City Council
By: Madeline Mussig The Gladbrook City Council held their regular monthly meeting on October 12, 2015 at 7:00. The meeting began with acknowledgement of seven guests followed by Dennis Kucera’s police report. Kucera reported that there were 67 calls for service totaling 122 hours. Next, the consent agenda was approved. There was no old business. In new business, Carl Linden spoke with the council regarding building permit allowances and had a few questions about permits granted by the city. Following the discussion, two engineers from French-Reneker spoke about the extension, timeline, DNR approval, cost, plans and specifications for the lagoon project improvements. Res. 16-17 was introduced and approved. Mike Bearden of Clapsaddle-Garber Associates spoke about the I & I portion of the project. The fire/ambulance building project has almost come to a close with a few minor things on the punch list. Res. 16-19 Larson Pay Application was introduced and approved. In regards to the Grand Street Bridge, Res. 16-19 was approved. Claims to Clapsaddle-Garber Associates for $147.00, Gladbrook Auto Supply for $582.28, and Goos Implement for $8.41 were approved. School bus winter parking was discussed briefly. Sewer rate increase options were next on the agenda. The council decided rates will increase by a percentage with a cap on 8 years. Snow removal bids were opened, but the item has been tabled until November. In public works, Mark Lowry reported he ordered a new snow blade and showed the council new street sweeper options. He also requested the council look at the city’s code on their responsibilities regarding the upkeep of trees. Clerk Lori Bearden briefly discussed the FY14/15 annual financial report. The report will be published after the November meeting. At 9:23, the meeting came to a close. The next regular meeting will be held on November 9, 2015 at 7:00 P.M.
