By Joyce Wiese Tama County Supervisors met Monday morning, September 28, with Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson being present. Larry Vest has been absent last week and this week due to Jury duty. County Engineer Lyle Brehm asked for a change of date for the Meskwaki Glow Run. A resolution was passed changing the date of the Meskwaki Glow Run which had been scheduled for a Friday. Due to Football games on Fridays the date has been changed to Saturday October 17th, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A public hearing was held at 10:00 a.m. Supervisors considered the proposal to sell real estate to the City of Traer for a purchase price of one dollar ($1.00) and the proposal was approved. The land being considered is Lot Seven (7) except the East 12 feet and Lot Eight (8), Lot Nine (9), Lot Ten (10), Lot Eleven (11), Lot Twelve (12) and Lot Thirteen (13), Block Twelve (12) of the Original Town of Traer. Upon receipt of the purchase price of $1.00 Tama County Auditor Laura Kopsa shall prepare a certified copy of the Resolutions and Report Hearings relating to this including the affidavit of publication. No one appeared for the public hearing and the resolution was passed 2 to 0. A Tama County Utility Permit Application was approved for Interstate Power and Light for new poles and anchors at 1527 Highway E29 (240th Street). A discussion item was the report on Pioneer Cemeteries being maintained by Township Trustees. The Pioneer Cemetery Commission will discontinue to do the maintenance, but will continue to be an organization that will overlook the Pioneer cemeteries. Claims approved were $174,571.66.
