The Gladbrook City Council held their regular monthly meeting on September 14, 2015 at 7:00. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Keith Sash at 7:00. After the approval of the consent agenda, a public hearing regarding a fence variance at 101 1st street took place. After much discussion, the hearing was closed at 7:18. There was no old business. In new business, the fence variance request at 101 1st St. Res. 16-09 was approved. Beth Miller of Bowman and Miller gave an audit report. After the report, Res. 16-11 was approved. A request to lift the restriction on no parking on the West side of Gould street was approved. Lagoon Improvement Project discussion included generators and realigning piping. Res. 16-10 was approved to authorize French-Reneker to submit the drawings and pay French Reneker $17,500. A punch list is started for the Fire and Ambulance Building including caulking windows and doors, sealing the door, and putting in a strike plate. French-Reneker claim Res. 16-12 approved the designs for the Grand Street Bridge and paying French-Reneker $5,581.76. FY 14/15 road use report Res. 16-13 was approved. Dennis Modlin was appointed to the Gladbrook Library Board of Trustees. It was approved to pay claims to Gladbrook Tire and Goos Implement. Development of building demolition ordinance/permit was tabled until the next meeting. New ideas for the development of commercial/business incentive was discussed, but nothing has been created yet. Res. 16-14 for depositions and limits was approved, along with Res. 16-15 for record retention. Discussion took place for winter school bus parking for the Crayon Corner bus. It may be housed by the old firestation, but it will be discussed once again in October. The trick-or-treat date has been set for Saturday, October 31 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Sewer rate increase options were discussed, although no further action was taken. MLS, Schmidt Construction, and S.L. Baumier will all receive letters for snow bid removal. In public works, Mark Lowry spoke briefly about street sweepers. The clerk, Lori Bearden, reported that the water board has discussed implantation of wireless read meters. The meeting was adjourned at 9:59 PM. The next regular city council meeting will take place on October 12 at 7:00 PM.
