A Tradition Continues

Since 1923, the Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary has been a part of the ‘opening day of school’ program at then, the Gladbrook Public School, providing the school with a new flag when needed. About 1941, the Legion Color Guard became part of this patriotic tradition as we sent our students off on another year in their educational careers. On Monday, August 24, at 8:30 a.m., the Gladbrook American Legion and Auxiliary were again present for the 74th year at the Gladbrook campus to raise the American flag and continue the tradition of sending our students off for another year of learning. Those present were: Commander Ron Busch and Auxiliary President Jeanne Paustian raising the flag and the Color Guard of Terry Schmitz, Karen Pieper, Lynn Steiert, Jolene Denbow and Dick Denbow.
