On Monday, July 13 the Gladbrook City Council held their monthly meeting at the Gladbrook City Centre. The meeting began with the sheriff’s report from Dennis Kucera. He reported that there were 39 calls for service in the month June. Following the report, the consent agenda was approved. In old business, amendments were approved to Res 16-01 for wage adjustments for director of public works, assistant public works, city clerk, and assistant city clerk for 2015-2016. Res. 16-02 was approved to transfer 14/15 P&D property tax revenue to the Lagoon Capital Project. In new business, the Alliant 3-phase power application was sign by mayor Keith Sash. Res 16-03 French-Reneker Claim was approved to pay $18,550. The council accepted recommendations from Mike Bearden of Clapsaddle-Garber. The Fire/Ambulance building will be holding an open house on August 29, including a pork loin sandwich meal. The Peace Church Parking Lot Storm Sewing Intake project has not yet started, but will hopefully begin soon. It was approved to pay Goos Implement and Gladbrook Auto Supply a total of $1450.20. Mark Lowry gave a street repair update stating the repairs should begin the end of July and first part of August. The repairs will mainly include a seal coat on the roads. In regards to the development of building demolition and ordinance/permit, the city should have a permit by September. PCI evaluation was approved by the council. It was approved to pay all claims. Mark Lowry and mayor Keith Sash went around town looking for any problems that may be occurring. They said most problems included vehicles and weeds. Thirteen to fourteen people will be receiving letters about these issues. In public works, it was stated that there is a pending building permit. City Clerk Lori Bearden said the audit is scheduled for July 30-31. A motion was introduced and approved for closed session beginning at 7:45. No action took place during the closed session and it came to a close at 8:45 with adjournment following shortly. The next meeting will take place on August 12 at 7:00.
