Tama County Supervisors Larry Vest and Dan Anderson met Monday morning, June 8, with Supervisor Kendall Jordan joining them by telephone from California. Next weeks meeting will be postponed one day, from Monday, June 15 to Tuesday, June 16. This is due to the Treasurer’s tax sale which will be held in the supervisors room on Monday, June 15. Dr. Polly Hineman has been appointed to the Tama County Board of Health to replace recently deceased Dr. Mallory. Dr. John McCune, M.D. from Marshalltown was appointed as Interim Medical Examiner. Dr. David Bethel, Marshalltown was appointed as Deputy Medical Examiner. Tax suspensions requested by the Department of Human Services for Llana Bennett, Montour and Penny Mathes, Tama, were both approved. A Fireworks permit was approved for the City of Gladbrook for the Corn Carnival which is held the last week end in June. Fireworks will be on June 28, with the rain date on June 29. A resolution was passed stating the Chelsea Fire Department is hosting a benefit including a car show and street dance on Saturday, July 25. They have requested a temporary closure of Highway V18 south of the railroad to facilitate this event. The City of Chelsea will provide a detour for traffic. The Tama County Board of Supervisors approved the resolution to cover July 25, 2015 from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. County Engineer Lyle Brehm’s road report shows the Tama County Bridge Crew working on a bridge near the City of Vining on T Avenue, just south of Highway V18. They are adding some piles and this should take place this week. Work of 340th Street (Columbia Stub) is essentially complete. Manatts, the contractor, has completed paving and shoulders and the lines have been painted. Work on the bridge on the east side of Elberon will likely start either Monday, June 15 or Monday, June 22, according to the contractor Claims approved were for $118,228.72.
