Tama County Engineer Lyle Brehm met with the Tama County Board of Supervisors, Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan, and Dan Anderson, Monday morning, requesting two resolutions requesting public hearings for two road vacations. The first resolution asks Tama County to vacate and close a section of Tama County Secondary Road, described as the West º corner of Section 32, T83N, R13W and continuing southerly to the terminus, also known as T Avenue from about 1/2 mile south of Highway 30, all lying in Sections 31 and 32 of York Township. The intention of the road closure is to vacate the portion of the road that is unused and unnecessary for access. Brehm said a request had come from a landowner. The hearing is set for 10:00 a.m. on June 29, 2015 at the Tama County Board of Supervisors meeting room. The second resolution requested is for another road vacation public hearing. This would be in the northwest corner of Section 30 of Lincoln Township, known as 140th Street from the Grundy County Line east to AA Avenue with a distance of approximately 1/2 mile all lying in Section 19 and 30. The intention of the road closure is to vacate that portion of the road that is unused and unnecessary for access. This is at a request of a landowner. To vacation these road sections it is necessary to notify all adjoining land owners by certified mail of the hearing. The hearing is set for June 29, 2015 at 9:30 a.m.. Work on 340th Street (Columbia Stub) is progressing on time. The contractor ( Manatt’s) has completed pouring the paving. The granular shoulders are not yet completed, nor has the yellow and white lines been completed. Work continues on the bridge near Gladbrook on C Avenue near 170th Street, over Wolf Creek. Piers have been completed for some time and they should start drivng abutment piles today. Alliant Energy was approved for a utility permit for a large area east of Tama and Toledo. Alliant will be replacing some existing lines. Tammy Wise gave an insurance report. Tama County is self -funded. The balance in this fund the beginning of the fiscal year 2014-2015 started with a balance of $2,080,502.18. As of April 30, 2015 the balance was $1,887,153.10. Larry Vest, Chairman of the Tama County Supervisors stated he had contacted the State about a temporary deputy medical examiner to replace Dr. Mallory who is now deceased. Dr. McCune of Marshalltown will fill in for the present time. An appointment for court advocate is scheduled for June 29th, which will follow a meeting prior to this date by the board who must give approval. Claims approved for payment came to $825,127.04.
