Message From Our Mayor

It’s June 1st and everything is going great here in Gladbrook. We just got done with Memorial Day week end and had another great Memorial Day Service at Veteran’s Park. What a pretty place to honor our Veteran’s and those who gave everything so we can live in this great country. Rev. Carol Kress gave a fine speech and the G-R band was exceptional especially the young man who played Taps – sorry I don’t know his name. The color guard is always impressive. We all owe our Gladbrook American Legion for the time they served and all they put into this time honored celebration and the time they put in making our cemeteries look so beautiful with all the flags. Also the Legion Auxiliary for the meal they prepared. A big thanks to all of you! How about those GR Rebel boys – runner up in state football, then state champions in basketball and now have qualified to play for state championship soccer. What a tremendous bunch of young men! Last week we had clean up day here in town. Thanks to Mark Lowry for heading up this project with a lot of help from Lori Bearden, Barb DeWitt and Dave Smith. They worked two days gathering up every piece of trash and hauled it away. Mark took a least four loads to the landfill along with several large trash containers full. Both Lori and Barb’s eyes were sore from all the wind and dirt along with sore muscles. Thank them if you get a chance as this is not in their job description and thanks to everyone who took the time to clean up their lots and homes and for making our town a more friendly and attractive place to live. Corn Carnival is only four weeks away. Everything is on schedule and going great. It will be a good time and a great place to see old friends. I hope everyone will continue working to keep our town looking good and making it a friendly place for everyone to come and visit! I’m still in need of a couple more entertainers for the talent show. If you know of someone, please call Terri Luehring as I will be out of town for a couple of weeks.

See you at Corn Carnival! Keith Sash, Mayor

PS – If you are the person who sent me a letter pretending to be a Gladbrook citizen and running down everything here in town but do not have the guts to sign your name, save your time and 49 cents.
