Eric Stoakes

The Gladbrook American Legion has chosen Eric Stoakes as their delegate to attend Hawkeye Boys State at Camp Dodge, June 14-20, 2015,. He was chosen for his leadership qualities and interest in learning more about our democratic form of government, the organization of political parties and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Iowa government. It is an exercise in leading as well as following others, an opportunity to gain pride and respect for our form of government and the price paid by others to preserve it. Eric is the son of Jim and Jodee Stoakes and Sherri Stoakes and is a junior student at G-R. He felt this was a great opportunity as his brother, Evan, attended 4 years ago and really enjoyed it. Eric is active in sports, football and runs the hurtles in track qualifying for state. He works part-time at Gladbrook Tire, is active in the mission work of the SYF at Peace Church and enjoys fishing and hunting in his spare time. His plans are to attend a 4 year college after graduation. The Gladbrook Post extends their congratulations to Eric and know he will also enjoy his experience at Boys State!
