The Tama County Board of Supervisors Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson, met Monday morning, April 20, with the Poweshiek County Supervisors, as is customary once a year. Tama County shares County Engineer Lyle Brehm with Poweshiek County and today was the time to renegotiate Brehm’s wages for the coming fiscal year. Fiscal year 2014’s share for Poweshiek County was $78208.60. The new contract amount has not yet been set. Dave Quint from Hickory Hollows was present to discuss hard surfacing eight hundred feet of road on 115th Street in Section 10 of Geneseo township. Brehm noted this would be six inches of recycled asphalt, topped with oil and chips with a seal coat. Cost would be in the area of $30,000. Earlier Quint was advised the Hickory Hollow community would need to financially help support such a project. No decision was made. Right of way is 3.34 times assessed valuation. Borrow areas and slop easements are 1.67 times the assessed valuation. Fence is to be repaired by Tama County. Crop loss is as follows: Corn $800.00 an acre, Beans $500.00 an acre, Oats and Seed $150.00 an acre, Hay $300.00 an acre, Pasture $100.00 an acre.
