Tama Co. Supervisors By: Joyce Wiese

Tama County Supervisors received three bids on the farm ground advertised for rent. These bids were opened Monday morning, March 2, by County Auditor Laura Kopsa. The bids were from Doug and Dale Dolezal, Chelsea for $24,001.00, Tim Popelka for $29,766.00 and Tom Ehrig from Reinbeck for $33,638.00. This is for 121 acres farm land. Supervisors voted unanimously to accept the bid from Tom Ehrig at $33,638.00. A resolution was passed to approve re-appropriation for the Insurance/Human Resources Department. The Insurance/Human Resources department has had a change in personnel and salaries and is going to need to allow the new person to attend some meetings and do some training. The Board of Supervisors has funds in their budget to help cover the increased costs. A re-appropriation in the amount of $3825.10 from the Supervisors budget to the Insurance/Human Resources budget was approved. In other business Tammy Wise was given authority to sign for insurance, VOYA deferred compensation. Supervisors felt it important for Wise to have this authority. Authorization was also given to the Chair to sign a letter to withdraw from case management and disability services under a 28E agreement. Funds and rules have changed since the beginning of this agreement and updates are needed. Elizabeth Ledvina, Veteran’s Affairs, was present to advise supervisors they are searching for a person to replace Carroll Wegner’s position with Veteran’s Affairs. Wegner recently passed away after more than twenty years service to Veteran’s Affairs. Supervisors suggested she look for someone in the north west corner of the County to keep all parts of the county represented. Ledvina said she would try to find someone in that area. Two Utility permits were granted, both for Windstream, one being in Columbia Township and one in Grant Township. Claims approved for payment came to $158,323.93.
