Tama County Supervisors By: Joyce Wiese

The Tama County Board of Supervisors made several appointments at their regular meeting Monday morning. Mary Huffman, Dysart, was appointed to the Tama County Board of Health. Frank Adair, Toledo, and Dean Fisher, Garwin, were both reappointed to the Tama County Pioneer Cemetery Association. Adair has been a member of the Association since it was started. Their terms will end December 31, 2017. Robert Hill of the Geneseo-Dysart area was appointed to replace David Currell who recently resigned. Currell was a long time member of the Pioneer Cemetery Association. Hill’s term will end December 31, 2016. There is still one vacancy on the Pioneer Cemetery Association Board, but hopefully it will be filled by next week. Cathy Gethmann, Gladbrook, will serve on the Civil Service Commission. Gethmann was a teacher in the South Tama School system for many years. Supervisors voted unanimously to approve all these appointments. The Board of Supervisors canvassed the Hawkeye Community College Special Election at 10:00 a.m. with no changes. Next week there will not be a meeting on Monday due to this being Presidents Day, and the courthouse will be closed. The next Board meeting will be on Tuesday, February 17, at 9:30 a.m. Claims approved for payment for the past week came to $62,368.73
