Tama Co. Supervisors By: Joyce Wiese
In spite of the snowstorm that hit Tama County Sunday night the Tama County Board of Supervisors, Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson, met for their weekly meeting Monday morning. Monday, February 9, 2015, has been set for the canvas for the Hawkeye Community college Special Election. This will be at 10:00 o’clock in the Tama County Board of Supervisors room. A Resolution was passed approving a 28E Agreement with the City of Marshalltown and authorizing participation in the Lead Hazard Control Program. The Lead Hazard Control Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the purpose of lead hazard control work in Hardin, Marshall, Story and Tama Counties. The city of Marshalltown is a political subdivision organized and existing under the law and the Constitution of the State of Iowa. The City Housing and Community Development Department applied for a grant in the amount of $3,400,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2014 for Hardin, Marshall, Story and Tama Counties. HUD awarded the City a lead hazard control grant in the amount of $3,400,000. Tama County believes that participation in the program will be beneficial to Tama County residents to create lead safe housing. The resolution shall be in full force and effect after passage and adoption as by law required. In other business supervisors accepted a three year bid for county audits from Bowman-Miller of Gladbrook.
