Monday evening the Gladbrook City Council met and Chris Fleshner, project manager of Peterson Contractors informed the Council the bridge northwest of town will be replaced next summer and PCI will be providing the fill material. They wish to purchase some property in the northwest corner of town for excavation. The Council approved a public hearing to be held at 7 p.m. Monday, December 8th to approve the excavation permit. Tom Salrin of Growmark and Dwayne lacobs from New Century FS visited with the council about purchasing the property south of the present plant to erect a new seed shed. Eventually the old fertilizer shed would be torn down. The Council approved moving forward with the plan and City Clerk Lori Bearden will contact the city attorney to draw up the plans for putting the property up for sale. Tax Abatement applications were approved for Jeff and Mindy Ceaser and Mike and Lori Bearden. The abatements are for LOO% of the improvement value. The sheriff’s report was presented and there were 40 calls for service during the month of October and the department spent 128.75 hours within the city limits of Gladbrook. Resolution 75-24 was adopted to approve the City of Gladbrook water and sewer fund application for wastewater treatment and collection improvements. The water and sewer fund grant request as 5300,000 and the SRF loan request if 5780,000. The City of Gladbrook will serve as lead applicant for the joint proJect between City of Gladbrook and City of Lincoln. Resolution #15-23 for pay application f6 to Larson Construction for the Fire/Ambulance Building Project was approved for $224,318.64. The Council approved the application for voluntary annexation of the fire station property as was legally described in the application. A public hearing on the annexation will be held December 8th at 7 p.m. As recommended by the street committee, the snow removal on main street and south of school was awarded to S L Baumeier for the use of their payloader and dump truck. MSL Transfer was awarded the city parking lot and sidewalk at Washington & 2nd Streets and also Crayon Corner Learning Center drive and sidewalk/entryway. The Council approved establishing an assistant clerk position and will advertise for such. This position will be 10-12 hours per week. Bills not included in the consent agenda included three bills to Goos lmplement in the amounts of $17.85, $l14.81and $60.90; three bills to CGA for $170, $4,329.80 and $400; Gladbrook Auto for $74.34 and $60 to Trudi Scott. The council approved a budget for $1,800 for Clerk Bearden to purchase a new computer. Public Works Director Mark Lowry shared with the council the condition of the roof of the grader shed at the site of the old water tower. Andy Little of Service Roofing looked at it and suggested the insurance company be contacted. They came and looked at it and issued a check to repair it. To replace the roof would cost approximately $5,400. It was the wishes of the council to use the insurance check and patch it. A 3-year contract with Service Pump was approved for a yearly cost of $839.13.
