Monday morning, October 27, at the weekly Board of Supervisors meeting, County Engineer Lyle Brehm had three sealed bids to open. These bids were taken for resurfacing to be done on the Columbia Stub road (340th Street). Three bids were received. High bid was for $1,343,422.18, second bid for $1,141,072.96 and the low bid for $1,117,244.44. The low bid came from Manatt’s, and was recommended by the county engineer for approval. Larry Vest made the motion for approval and was approved by unanimous vote. Work is to be started on June 5, 2015 for a concrete surface. Brehm also reported that work on a bridge in Carroll township, section 34, was completed Friday. It is expected the road will be open sometime next week. In other road work grading is being done east of Vining on 310th Street, east of Highway E44. County Treasurer Michelle Yuska was present asking for Tax Abatement on a mobile home in Traer, owned by Michael Thompson. Yuska says the trailer has been removed and taxes to be abated come to $2098.00. The board voted to approve the tax abatement and get the property back on the tax base. The County Recorders quarterly report was received and approved. This shows fees collected for 246 deeds recorded $2715.00, 184 real estate mortgages ($8905.00, 28 Affadavits $305.00, 177 releases and assignments $1080.00, Interest $5.42, non standard fees $10.00 for a total of $17,729.17. Also, received was for 2 RVVRS $668.75, 3 Hunting and Fishing licenses writing fees $244.00, 4 Real Estate transfer stamps for $3656.31, Auditor transfer fees $1385.00, Records Management fees $785.00, 7 Vital Statistic Certified copies for marriage at $100.00 and 7 Certified copies $544.00. E-commerce fees already paid to the County treasurer were for $785.00, making the total remitted to the Treasurer of Tama County $25897.23. Claims for payment in the amount of $181,420.20 was approved.
