Lois (Schmidt) Eggers

Lois Ann (Schmidt) Eggers, 85, passed away on June 26, 2025, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, Iowa, after a short courageous battle with cancer.

Lois was born June 2, 1940, in Marshalltown, IA. She grew up on a farm north of Gladbrook. After several years in country school she transferred to the Gladbrook school system where she graduated with the class of 1958. After attending AIB in Des Moines, she returned to Gladbrook and married Roger Eggers on May 15, 1960, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

She spent the next years raising a growing family of 4 boys which kept her busy. After they were older, she worked at Penney’s, as City Clerk in Gladbrook, and later worked part-time seasonal work at Pioneer Seed Corn.

She was dedicated to her 4 boys, her 3 grandsons (one of which she raised through his teen years) and later, her 2 great granddaughters.

Lois is survived by sons Gary (Linda), Greg, and David; grandsons Landon, Preston, and Trevor (Ashlynn); and great granddaughters Haven and Lillian; brother Ron Schmidt, sisters Ginny (John) Shoup, Sara (Bob) Havel; and many family members and friends who her life touched throughout the years.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; son, Rodney; parents, Caroline and Otto Schmidt; sister, N. Jean Nablo; brother-in-law, Dale Nablo; and sister-in-law, Betty Schmidt.
