Kenneth Lee Hatch was born September 19, 1967, in Grundy Center, Iowa. Kenneth was the middle of three children born to Gordon and Sharon (Harms) Hatch. He grew up in rural Gladbrook, Iowa and graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1986. He furthered his education and received his Associate of Applied Science degree from Hawkeye Community College. He spent time on the wheat run and worked on a large feed lot operation in Kansas. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for Peterson Contractors before starting his farming career.
Kenneth was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart and neighbor, Shelleen Lynch on May 29, 1993. From their union two daughters, Shelton and Kerrigan were born. He was a farmer through and through working the land. Kenneth stayed active within the Gladbrook Community and was involved with the Masonic Lodge and was a lifelong member of Peace United Church of Christ. He served on many boards including the church, Badger Hill Cemetery and Mid-Iowa Cooperative. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, going snowmobiling especially out west in the mountains with his little brother, camping at the Iowa State Fair, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes, and visiting friends.
Kenneth was especially proud of his daughters and enjoyed attending their many activities. He was fortunate to have his soon-to-be nurse, Kerrigan, by his side in his final days and was at peace with her presence. He was proud to have Shelton and Mitchell moving to Gladbrook to carry on his farming operation. This also provided him with comfort and peace. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Shelleen Hatch; his children, Shelton (Mitchell) Hoefling and Kerrigan Hatch; his mother, Sharon Hatch (Bill); and siblings, Joy (Brett) McLain and Dan (Kori) Hatch; nieces and nephews, Ashley (Ben) Boydstun, Brittany (Joel) Williams, Tanner (Daisy) Hatch, Mackenna Hatch and Alyssa Hatch. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Darbie Lynch; sister-in-law, Sheresa Lynch (Tyler German). He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Hatch; Father-in-law, Mark Lynch; and grandparents Mary and Gilbert Dahms and Kenneth and Wilma Hatch.
