William Anderson

William “Bill” Anderson, 73, of rural Traer, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Abels Funeral and Cremation Service, French-Hand Chapel, in Reinbeck. A funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Amity Church in rural Reinbeck. The burial will be held privately by the family at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Bill was born on December 18, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa, to his parents Clifford and Mildred (Guffey) Anderson. He was raised in the Reinbeck, Dinsdale, and Traer area, and graduated from the North Tama High School in the class of 1969. Bill then went on to complete his education at Hawkeye Tech and earned his associate degree in agriculture mechanics. Bill then worked for B & M Tractor Service for many years. He then worked in custodial and maintenance for Hawkeye Community College and later UNI retiring in 2015.

Bill was united in marriage to Penny Kern on November 17, 1973, at the Amity Church. The couple made their home in Reinbeck for a few years and then settled on the family farm in rural Traer. They welcomed twin boys, Bart and Bret into their family.

Bill was a St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Bill was also an avid collector of International Harvester memorabilia. He was also a member of the Chapter 5 IH Club. However, his true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved attending their sporting events and activities.

Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny; his sons Bart (Tonya) Anderson of Indianola, Iowa, and Bret (Rachel) Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren Raelyn, Vincent, Samuel, Broderick, Graeme, Abbey, and Everlee; sisters Karma (Dave) Wanamaker of Altoona, Iowa and Nancy Pettit of Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
