Mary Dake

Mary E. (Webrand) Dake passed away Monday, January 15, 2024. Mary was born July 24, 1928, in rural Finchford, Iowa, the daughter of Vern D. and Elsa (Cornforth) Webrand. She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1946. She married Wayne W. Dake on November 26, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. She worked at Lonergan’s Drugstore and was employed as a receptionist for Dr. R.C. Berner, also of Reinbeck, until her retirement.

Mary is survived by two daughters: LaCinda (John) Hanzalik, of Kenosha, WI, and Jana (Joseph) Robertson, of Marshalltown, IA. She has 4 granddaughters: Ellen (Nick) Meo, of Kenosha, WI; Abigail Gallo, of Lake Villa, IL; Leah Robertson, of Denver, CO; and Amanda (Doug) Hagerman, of Waterloo, IA. Mary is further survived by 14 great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul, and her husband, Wayne (2003).

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one-hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Cedar Bend Humane Society, 1166 W. Airline Hwy, Waterloo, IA 50703.
