Marie Smith

Marie M. Smith, 88, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was born on September 14, 1935, to Simon and Hilka Siefken in Reinbeck, Iowa. Marie married James Smith on April 25, 1954, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union 6 children were born.

She spent most of her life in the Gladbrook/Lincoln area and worked for over 30 years at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa.

Marie is survived by her children; Ken (Carla) Smith, Carol Smith, Connie Hurlbut, Carla (Dave) Caputo, Keith (Shelley) Smith, Corinne (Robert) Martin; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and her brother; Don (JoAnn) Siefken, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband “Jim”, her parents, granddaughter Melissa Stubbs, brothers, Hilko and Marlin, sisters: Verdene, Hilda and Mavis.

Memorials may be sent to the family to be donated to groups of their choice at a later time.

Visitation is on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 12:30pm to 1:00pm at the Salem Church in Lincoln. Memorial service will follow at 1:00pm. A private family inurnment will be at the Reinbeck City Cemetery.
