John P. Hansen

John P. Hansen will be remembered in a burial of the dead service on Friday, June 16th at Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa, at 1:00 p.m.

John was born November 5th, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Phyllis and Otto Hansen, of rural Gladbrook. He attended Gladbrook Community Schools participating in band, vocal music groups and wrestling. He was baptized at Peace United Church of Christ; attended Sunday School, VBS and was confirmed a member. He received an associate of arts degree from Marshalltown Community College. John received a bachelor of science degree in agricultural business with an emphasis in economic analysis from Iowa State University. John received a masters of business administration degree with a specialization in financial analysis from Drake University.

August 21, 1971, John married Peggy (nee Coffey), they welcomed sons Tyler and Alex into their family. In 1987, the family transferred to Illinois where both John and Peggy were employed by AT&T until retirement. John and Peggy welcomed granddaughters Alyson and Kaitlyn and grandson Logan into their expanded family. John was an active member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church and enjoyed his continual study of military history.

John died at home on December 25, 2021. John is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons Tyler (Jennie nee Cardwell) and Alex; sister Kathy (Andrew) Carlson; sisters-in-law Jackie (Pete) Coffey, Shirley (Bud) Coffey; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
