Bernadine Puls, 88, of Gladbrook, IA passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2023, at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Anderson Funeral Homes of Gladbrook has been entrusted with the arrangements. She was born October 8, 1934, in Reinbeck, IA. She was the daughter of Otto and Mamie (Tams) Hamann. She attended Gladbrook School and graduated in the class of 1953. She helped her parents work on the family farm. On August 6, 1956, Bernadine was united in marriage to Harold Puls at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, IA. They made their home on Otto Hamann Farm northeast of Gladbrook, where they raised three sons; Gary, Ronnie and Mark. After the boys left the farm, she worked at Bob’s Farm Center in Conrad for 15 years. After that, she was a school bus driver for Gladbrook Community Schools for 29 years. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bernadine was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, club member of the Evening Guild and loved animals.

Bernadine will be missed by her three sons; Gary, of Hudson, IA, Ronnie (Mary), of Gladbrook, IA, and Mark, of Gladbrook, IA. Three grandchildren: Channing (Blaire) Puls, of Hudson, IA, Chelsea (Tyler) Edgington, of Oceola, IA, Colton (Kristine) Puls, of Gladbrook, IA; four step-granddaughters: Jessica Buskohl, of Cedar Falls, IA, Amanda (Trevor) Buskohl-Broekemeier, of Gladbrook, IA, Jamie (Todd) Buskhol-Haupt, of Grundy Center, IA, Allyssa (Cody) Buskohl-Winkowitcsh, of Traer, IA; numerous great grandchildren and many step great grandchildren, sister Romajean Janssen, of Waterloo, IA, nephew Randy Janssen, of Oelwein, IA, two nieces; Deb Janssen-Yanz, of Lee’s Summit, MO and Janet (Mike) Janssen-Shock, of Traer, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harold, and a brother-in-law, Romaine Janssen.
