Shirley L. Carroll, 91

Shirley L. Carroll, 91, of Waterloo, formerly of Voorhies, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022. She was born October 9, 1931, in rural Black Hawk County, daughter of Owen W. and Alyce C. (Jacobs) Saltzman. She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1949.

Shirley married Marvin Reese, they later divorced. Later, she married Robert Carroll on October 2, 1965, in Preston, MN. He died January 7, 1984.

She worked in the office at Rath Packing from the early 1950ás until it closed in 1984. Then she worked as a cook at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center for several years and was a Senior Companion. She is a member of the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her three granddaughters: Tracy, Janet and Nancy and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Kay (Roy) Delagardelle, of Waterloo, and Terrie (Chuck) Sebbert, of Ft. Myers, FL; brother, Chuck Saltzman, of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Robert and son, Richard.

Graveside inurnment took place Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in Garden of Memories Cemetery, in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging.
