David Foster Owen, 59

David Foster Owen, 59, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on October 12, 2022. He was born on September 26, 1963, in Rochester, MN, the son of Mike and Pat Owen. David was united in marriage with Annette Blong on June 27, 1987, in Grundy Center at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They welcomed their son, John Foster Owen to the family in 1990.

A 1982 graduate of Grundy Center High School, Dave was a member of the FFA, enjoyed playing football and was honored to be on the homecoming court his senior year. He was an enthusiastic hunter, trapper and fisherman in his younger years.

His spiritual life was rooted in the Reformed Church of Stout, where he generously gave of his time, serving as an elder, deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Dave was a life-long farmer, beginning as a young boy helping with animal chores and summertime fieldwork on the family farm northeast of Grundy Center. He ran headlong into full-time farm operations and management as time allowed and opportunity arose. Never one to sit still, he also worked at Pioneer in Reinbeck for 16 years. In 2012, he left Pioneer to take a position with Central Iowa Water, which he held up until the present time.

David is survived by his wife Annette, son John, daughter-in-law Megan, and granddaughter Addison. Father Mike Owen, sister, Linda Wendell and brother-in-law Jon Wendell, niece Sara Wendell, nephew Mike Wendell, his wife Laura and their son William. Aunts and uncles Jared and Kathryn Owen, Paul and Kris Wieck, Judy and Bob Andersen and Jan Ehrig, as well as 10 cousins and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother Pat Owen, maternal grandparents Bill and Florence Starr, paternal grandparents Foster and Grace Owen, uncle Dr. Paul Ehrig, brother-in-law Rick Blong and mother-in-law Bernice Blong.
