Vance David Sebbert

Vance David Sebbert, 76, of Lincoln, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital and under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.

Funeral services for Vance were held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Salem Church of Lincoln in Lincoln, Iowa. Please dress casual. Visitation was Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Vance David Sebbert was born on October 1, 1945, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Victor and Vivian (Wiese) Sebbert. He attended the Gladbrook School. Vance was united in marriage to Diane Neuhalfen on November 23, 1968, in Reinbeck, Iowa. He was a member of the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years, Sons of Amvets and was a long-time member of the Lincoln City Council since 1973. He dedicated his whole life to the city of Lincoln. Vance was a skilled mechanic and had worked for Stephan’s Dodge in Reinbeck, Vokoun Company in Traer and SL Baumeier in Gladbrook where he retired from in 2017. Vance was named the “2000 Citizen of the Year” in Lincoln. Vance enjoyed doing snow removal for the city, spending time with his family at Clear Lake, watching his grandson Matt play sports and helping his other grandson Adam with his race car. Even after retirement Vance couldn’t sit still, he liked to “tinker” with everything from vehicles to appliances and drink a little beer from time to time.

Vance is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane; daughter: Jodi (John) Johannsen, of rural Gladbrook; grandchildren: Adam (Morgan) Johannsen, of Gladbrook, and Matthew Johannsen, of rural Gladbrook.

Vance is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Vivian.
