Marcella Dahms

Marcella Dahms, 98 of Gladbrook, IA died on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services at the church. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, in rural Gladbrook.

Marcella was born April 21, 1923 to Walter & Elsie (Hamann) Struwe. She was raised in rural Gladbrook. Marcella married Ervin Dahms on January 29, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They made their home in Gladbrook. They had one son, Dennis, born on January 7, 1948, who graduated from Gladbrook High School. They then moved to Des Moines. Marcella was a homemaker and did babysitting. Ervin and Marcella loved to listen to ballroom music and dance the night away. After Ervin’s death on July 19, 1991, Marcella moved to Marshalltown to be closer to her mother. She eventually moved back to Gladbrook and lived in the Eastbrook Apartments. With her friends they loved traveling to Marshalltown to shop, senior dinners, and she enjoyed walking around Gladbrook every day. Marcella was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ.

Marcella is survived by, Ed & Claudia Sharp of El Dorado Hills, CA, grandchildren: Jay Dahms & friend, Jennifer, & Kaleb and Christian of Colorado Springs, Co, Darcy (Tim) Adams & Max of Cincinnati, Ohio, Troy (Lynette) Seehawer of Antioch, CA, Vickie (Todd) Fiske & Morgan, Taylor, and Cortney of Pleasanton, CA, and Valerie Keast & Foster of Pleasanton, CA, nephew Bill (Jan) Struwe & Bill Jr. of Clifton, NJ. Preceding her in death besides her husband was her son Dennis; and a brother Lester and his wife, Marge Struwe of Clifton, New Jersey.
