Beverly Judge

Beverly Judge, 88, of Garwin, Iowa, went home to her Lord on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Unity Point Health-Marshalltown.

Beverly Jean Hennesy Judge was born March 12, 1933 in rural Garwin to Roy Willard and Mary Esther Westfall Hennesy. When she was 2 years old they moved to Toledo where she grew up and graduated from Toledo High School in 1951.

Besides babysitting, she was a Des Moines Register carrier for 7 years. After graduation she was private secretary for Dick Thompson at Central Iowa Telephone Company until her marriage to Virgil Judge on June 27, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They returned to their farm where she spent most of her life until her recent move to Bickford of Marshalltown in July 2021.

To this union were born three sons, Brian, Dennis and Gary, and one daughter Brenda.

In 1979 she was employed as a part time bookkeeper at Lorensen and Beales elevator for 15 years and then during harvest for 5 years at Garwin Lumber Company. She was also bookkeeper for Ron Reisinger Trucking until the time of her death.

Beverly was saved as a young girl and was a member of the United Brethren Church until her marriage when she joined the Carlton Brethren Church. In 1978, she united with Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown.

Beverly taught Sunday school at all three churches for over 55 years until her husband’s health required her to retire in 2012.

She also taught Bible School and S.M.M., a girl’s missionary group.

She was a charter member of the Modern Homemaker Club (1955). Beverly wrote many poems, especially for special occasions such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and over 20 Christmas poems. Some of these were assembled in a booklet, “From My Heart.”

Beverly Loved her Lord, cherished her family and friends, enjoyed a good story, writing letters, and living in the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Collene and Carolee, her brother Dean and Bob, a son Dennis (1987) and her husband Virgil in April 2013, and several nephews and nieces

Surviving are her sons Brian Judge, and Gary (Tammy Harris) Judge of Marshalltown, her daughter Brenda (Herk) Schmidt of Reinbeck, 5 grandsons Daniel, Kelly and Aaron Judge and Darin (Chelsie) and Austin Schmidt, Brixon (And Bauer) Schmidt and Nash Judge great grandsons her brother Larry Hennesy of Colorado, Craig (Frani) Hennesy of Arizona, sister Judy Cooper of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.

Services for Beverly will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 10:30 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Fellowship Baptist Church.
