Barbara Beichley

Barbara Beichley, 71, of Linn Creek, MO, formerly of Gladbrook, IA, passed away at her residence on Monday, March 23, 2020. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2020. Barb was born April 27, 1948, to Robert and Helen (Sieh) Harder in Marshalltown, IA. She grew up on the family farm near Gladbrook and graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1966. Barb attended Ellsworth Junior College and graduated in 1968 with an associated marketing degree. She was employed at Younkers in Des Moines for a couple of years before continuing her college education at William Penn University graduating in 1972 with a bachelor of arts degree. Barb then taught at William Penn University in the home economics department. She obtained her masters of science in family environment from Iowa State University in 1974. In 1975, Barb started working at the ISU Extension where she was employed for approximately 10 years. She was then hired as executive director of the Marshalltown Community College Foundation where she was employed for over 26 years, until her retirement in 2012. Barb was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Duane Beichley, on May 31, 1969. They had one son, Brent Beichley. Barb enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping, antiquing, reading, and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, where Barb and Duane made their home following retirement. Barb loved her family and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Barb is survived by her husband, Duane of Linn Creek, MO; son Brent (Susan) Beichley of Gladbrook; grandchildren Jayden and Jenna Beichley. She is also survived by one sister, Judy (William) Chaplin; one brother, Rollin (Sharon) Harder; brothers-in-law Lynn (Donna) Beichley and Darwin (Charlene) Beichley; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Harder; her mother and father-in-law, Lester and Doris Beichley; nephews Aaron Beichley and Gregory Stowell.
