Michele K. “Mickey” Styrsky (nee Rasmussen), age 78, beloved wife for 55 years to the late Jerry J. Styrsky, LTC Ret. U.S. Army. Loving mother of Jerry David (Melissa) Styrsky and Krista (Tony) Smerz. Cherished grandmother of Alex and Abby Smerz and Ty, Jace and Cade Styrsky. Dear sister of Sue (the late Chuck) Bjurlin, Beth (the late Doug) Stuart and the late Paulette (Alvaro) Rivas.

Mickey was a school nurse for many years serving the North Palos School District #117, the Evergreen Park School District #124 and AERO Special Education Cooperative. After her retirement from Evergreen Park School District #124, she continued to substitute for District #124 and AERO until this past March when the schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mickey had also been the Health Inspector for the city of Oak Forest for many years.

Mickey was an active lifetime member of the VFW #2791 Auxiliary and a member of AVMRA Chapter X. She loved serving veterans and others through activities with the VFW, AVMRA and Faith United Methodist Church of Orland Park.

A Service to celebrate Mickey’s life will take place at a later date at Faith United Methodist Church in Orland Park. Interment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, where she will be placed with her late husband Jerry.
