Jeffrey Jay “Andy” Anderson, age 68, of Garwin, passed away with his family at his side on Friday, August 28, 2020, at his home under the care of Hospice Compassus. To honor Jeff’s wishes, cremation rights have been accorded and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5th, at the old grocery store in Garwin. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3rd from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Jeff’s family. Jeffrey was born on November 29, 1951 in Marshalltown, IA, the son of William and Geraldine (Crosser) Anderson. He grew up in Tama and attended school there. On August 31, 1968, he was united in marriage to Kathy “Putt” Blanchard in Kirksville, MO. Jeff was employed at the Garwin Lumber Company and later retired from JBS in Marshalltown. He was a dedicated volunteer fireman at the Garwin Fire Department for fifteen years. Jeff loved hunting and fishing, reading, cheating at playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving is his wife, Kathy “Putt” Anderson; his children: Trisha (Brent) Williams, Travis Anderson and Tammie (Chad) Anderson; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren – with another on the way; five step great grandchildren; his sisters: Sandy Fisher, Debbie Tonche and Kathy Taylor; a brother, William “Bill” (Charlie) Anderson; and his faithful companions, Zeva and Gizmo.
In eternal life, Jeff has been reunited with his parents and grandparents; a brother, Danny Anderson; a niece, Danielle Anderson and brothers-in-law, Tom Anderson and Cheeta Tonche and several aunts and uncles.
