Gene L. Clausen, 83, of Traer, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Sunrise Hill Care Center. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Condolences may be left at www.overtonfuneralhomes.com. Overton Funeral Home, Traer, IA, was entrusted with the arrangements. Gene L. Clausen was born on October 4, 1936, on the family farm near Lincoln, the son of Henry and Lillian (Landt) Clausen. Gene graduated from Dinsdale High School with the class of 1955. Gene farmed his entire life near Traer. He was a member of the Tama County Farm Bureau and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gene died at the age of 83 on February 20, 2020, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in infancy; two brothers, Lester and Lavern; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Clausen. Gene is survived by two brothers, Melvin (Fran) Clausen of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and Robert Clausen of Traer; a sister, Reva (Harold) Cox of Traer; a niece, Sherry Clausen; and two nephews, Steven Cox and Harold “Jim” Cox.
