Donald Francis, 82, of Evansdale, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Allen Memorial Hospital (ER). Visitation will be Thursday, December 26, 2019, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo, IA. Funeral services with Military Rites will be held Friday, December 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories. Burial will be at Reinbeck Cemetery. On-line condolences may be left at www.parrottandwood.com. Donald Richard Francis was born on November 12, 1937 in Sauk Centre, MN, son of Raymond and Lucy (Bellinger) Francis. In 1956, Donald joined the Army and later was honorably discharged in 1959. On December 6, 1974, Donald was united in marriage to Lois Aswegan in Reinbeck at the United Methodist Church. Donald enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching sports, bingo, playing chess, and cards. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. No one was a stranger to Donald, he enjoyed talking and telling jokes to anyone. Donald Francis died on Friday, December 21, 2019 at the Allen Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, 6 infant children, Velma, William, Baby Francis and 3 unnamed; brothers Larry and Robert. Donald is survived by his children Michelle (Forrest) McVay, Gregory (JoAnne) Francis, Brad Francis, Dawn Francis; grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin, Jordan, Jared, James, Larry, Madison, Michael; great grandchild, Emilie, and sisters, Judy Medd, Martha (Larry) Tichy.
