Beverly Rae Stonewall , 84, West Des Moines, formerly of Gladbrook, died Monday, February 15, 2016, at Heritage Court Assisted Living, West Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services were held Friday, February 19, 2016, at Peace United Church of Christ, Gladbrook, Iowa. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Gladbrook, Iowa. Beverly Rae Stonewall (née Shope) passed away quietly on February 15, 2016, at Heritage Court Assisted Living in West Des Moines, where she had lived since November. She was born April 9, 1931, in Toledo, Iowa, to Robert and Etta Shope. Most of her life was spent in Central Iowa, where she lived in Gladbrook and Marshalltown. She also lived briefly in the Quad Cities and Dallas, TX. She owned the Rock Restaurant in Gladbrook and was known for being a fantastic cook. She also had her own cleaning service for many years, and every home she cleaned, including her own, was spotless. Her free time was spent reading, contemplating, and discussing her walk with the Lord, with whom she had a close, personal connection that guided the last 40 years of her life. Beverly is survived by her nine children: Kate Snow (Pittsburgh, PA), Jeff Barger (Denise)(Palm Coast, FL); Gary Barger (Foreston, MN), Kay Cervetti (Cedar Falls), Sue Duhrkopf (Cedar Falls), Sue Rogers (Todd) (Clemons), Peggy Gray (West Des Moines), Addison Stonewall (Sabina, OH), and Monte Stonewall (St. Paul, MN); thirteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Leonard and Robert Shope.
