Obituary
Donald Ray Landt, 64, of Oklahoma City, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015. He was born Sept. 6, 1951, in Nuremberg, Germany, to Arthur Leslie Landt and Ginette Camille (Briclot) Landt. He grew up in a military household and lived across several states, including Alaska, Iowa, Texas and Oklahoma. He loved to tell stories about Alaska, including once when his car hit a moose, resulting in a defining scar to his face. After graduating from high school in Frankfurt, Germany, he joined the United States Army. He went on to serve dutifully in the Vietnam War. He returned to the U.S. a changed man. Taking a Greyhound bus from San Francisco to Oklahoma, he happened to meet the love of his life while she was on that same bus. After two years of long distance communication, Ayako Honda moved from Japan to be with her love. On June 11, 1976, the two recited vows that would forever resonate amongst all who knew them. They had two children together, Jeanette Misa and Jessica Miki. Donald was a kind, gentle and giving man. He was an artist and fisherman. He enjoyed music, bowling and baseball. He loved the outdoors and always looked forward to the holidays. He loved to make others laugh. He loved his family and was always so proud of them. His love for his wife was immeasurable. She was his greatest companion and his source of strength through his toughest times. He admired her and always had a sparkle in his eyes when she was near. Above all things, Donald loved the Lord. Despite his health obstacles, he courageously accepted God’s plan for him while only growing stronger in his faith and in prayer. He was a true fighter. He loved life and gave thanks for even the smallest of moments. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ginette Landt; father, Arthur Landt; and youngest brother, Roger Landt. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ayako Landt; daughters, Jeanette Hollis & husband Ryan and Jessica Foxen & husband Dylan; granddaughter, Eily Hollis; all of Oklahoma City; brother, Ronnie Landt, of Abilene, TX; sister, Annette Collins, of Enid, OK; numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all. A Viewing will be held 1:30-9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 at John Ireland Funeral Home in Moore. There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 with Burial at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery immediately following. A lunch will be provided prior to the Mass at noon. All who loved him are invited.
