H. Paul Lundt, 91, of Gladbrook, IA, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Central Iowa Healthcare in Marshalltown, IA. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2015, at Gladbrook United Methodist Church. Reverend Carol Kress officiated the services. Visitation was from from 5:00 p.m., until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Gladbrook Chapel of Anderson Funeral Homes, 410 Johnston St. Gladbrook. Paul was born October 26, 1923 in Gladbrook, Iowa, to Harry Lundt and his wife Amelia Bick Lundt. He graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during the Second World War from October of 1943 to the end of November 1945. He spent much of that time in Italy with the 455th Bomb Group, 742nd Bomb Squadron. He married Margaret Klemme on June 16, 1950. The two remained married until her death in March of 2009. They were together for 58 years. After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked for a local telephone company and was later the owner and operator of Lundt Hatchery and Feed. He and Margaret, with the help of friends, purchased and renovated numerous houses within the Gladbrook community. He enjoyed bowling, baseball, and basketball, and he was a long-time member–and former commander–of the Gladbrook American Legion Post 127. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He especially enjoyed walleye fishing in Canada. He lived in Gladbrook his entire life, excepting only his time overseas. His wife Margaret and his siblings Alice, Millard, Francis (“Toots”), and Marion (“Bunny”) all preceded him in death. He is survived by his two children, Sheila and Niles, as well as his daughter-in-law Michelle and his two grandchildren Honor and Brady. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Gladbrook United Methodist Church. His family would like to thank all of those who helped him stay in his home over the years, as well as those who provided him care in his final months.
