Velma E. Lynk, 95

Velma E. Lynk, former long-time resident of Gladbrook, Iowa, died in Bella Vista, AR on March 6, 2015 of natural causes at the age of 95. Velma was the daughter of Ray and Mae Eitel and was born on July 5, 1919, in Hansell, Iowa. The family later moved to Hampton where her parents owned and operated a dairy farm. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1937 and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids for one year after high school. In 1941 she was married to Ray Lynk of Eldora. They owned and operated a drycleaning business in Gladbrook for 25 years. She then worked at the local grocery store for a few years as well as gave piano lessons to area children. Velma had a lifetime love of music and played the piano and organ in the Methodist Church in Hampton for many years. She also excelled on the cornet and played in the Hampton High School band as well as in the municipal band while living in Hampton and accompanied many soloists over the years on the piano or organ. She was an avid reader and also a big fan of Iowa Hawkeye basketball. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ray, in 1981, her parents, and three brothers. In 2008 she moved to Bentonville, Arkansas to live with her daughter. Surviving are her daughters, Marcia (Bob….deceased) Haines of Bentonville, AR, Susan (Ray) Frimml of Brooklyn, IA, grandson Dave (Shiela) Frimml of Festus, MO, granddaughter Cheryl (Darwin) Hart of Colorado Springs, CO, step-granddaughters Karen Bridges of Rogers, AR., Marcie Haines of Springfield, MO., great-granddaughters Avery and Emme Frimml, great-grandson Eli Frimml, three step-great-grandchildren, a sister of Leonardtown, MD, a sister-in-law of Brookings, SD and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Private graveside services will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetary in Gladbrook. Arrangements are being made by the Moody-Stockdale Funeral Home of Rogers, AR and the Anderson Funeral Home of Gladbrook, IA. Memorials may be made to the Gladbrook Public Library, 301 2nd Street, Gladbrook, IA 50635 or to a charity of your choice.
