Marlys Kay Psotka Hiatt, 71

Marlys Kay Psotka Hiatt, 71, of Marshalltown, formerly of Gladbrook and Ames, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014, at her home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., until the time of services at the Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Gladbrook. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com. Marlys was born April 16, 1943 in Britt, IA, to Jerry and Irene (Welik) Psotka. She graduated from Britt High School in 1960. She was married to Richard I. Norstrud and they welcomed two daughters, Tamara and Debra. They later divorced. She was remarried to Roger Hiatt and they welcomed a son, Jerry. They later divorced. Marlys moved from Ames to Gladbrook in 1978 with her family. Marlys returned to Ames to work as a bookkeeper at KD Billiards and Amusements for many years, until her retirement. Marlys also worked as a concession stand manager at Hilton Coliseum in Ames. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and doing puzzles, she was also a huge cyclones fan. Marlys is survived by her three children, Tamara (Randy) Oettchen of Gladbrook, Debra (Dave) Eickholt of Woodbine, and Jerry (Tia) Hiatt of Marshalltown; four step-children, Katie (Ron) Braasch of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Deanne) Hiatt of Boone, Steve (Suzanne) Hiatt of Cedar Rapids and Kelly Hiatt of Waukee; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, Jerry (Jane) Psotka of Bloomington, MN, and James (Barb) Psotka of Las Vegas, NV, and one sister, Gloria Psotka of Las Vegas NV. She is preceded in death by her parents and one step-son, Jeff Hiatt.
