Debra Lynn (Hartsoe) Wilson
Shortly after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, Debra Lynn (Hartsoe) Wilson was called to Heaven after a short and tragic fight with cancer. She passed, surrounded by her family and friends, at Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. Debra was born on July 22, 1963 to J.A. “Jim” and Barbara Hartsoe, and was raised in Gladbrook, attending Gladbrook Community School, class of ’81. She worked in Dietary at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home, and Security at Meskwaki Casino, raising her two daughters Kelsey Renee and Devin Nicole Hartsoe. On November 3, 1999 Debra married Dorsey John Wilson, and together they had a son, Tyler James in 2000. In 2002 the family moved to northern Linn County, where she worked at Central City Manufacturing. In recent years, Debra was very active in a 12-step program, where she touched many lives and sponsored a number of young women by sharing her message of strength, experience, and hope. Debra was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband, and an infant sister. Those left to honor Debra’s memory include her three children, a grandchild, Joshua Dorsey Inman, two sisters, Susan (Tracy) Gienger of Newton and Linda (Mark Koder) Keller of Norwalk, nephews Shaun, Geoff, Cody, Derrek, and Collin, long-time friend Amy Mooney-Geels, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and close friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
