Dora A. Wiebensohn, 79

Dora A. Wiebensohn, 79, of Gladbrook, Iowa, died on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. A graveside service was held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Gladbrook. Memorials may be designated in her name to Mercy Hospice or to Westbrook Acres Nursing Home, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.smithfh.com. Dora Alice Wiebensohn was born the daughter of Karl and Christine (Bremer) Wiebensohn in Mishicot, Wisconsin. She was raised in Mishicot and Gladbrook, Iowa respectively. Dora was a loving and very happy person who enjoyed visiting with the many friends she made while living at the Woodward State Hospital in Woodward, Traer Nursing Home, Harmony House in Waterloo, Country Living Care Center in Toledo, and Westbrook Acres Care Center in Gladbrook. She held a special love for her stuffed animals, especially her teddy bears who she called “her babies.” Dora is survived by her sister, Ruth (Loyd “Tweet”) Carstensen of Montezuma and formerly of Grinnell; brother, Raymond (Betty) Wiebensohn of Mishicot, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Marlene and Pat Wiebensohn of Gladbrook; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ilsa Eatwell in 2012; and two brothers, Peter in 1996, and Karl in 1987.
