Joan C. Dahms, 78, of Reinbeck, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, Iowa, with Pastor Mark Decker officiating. Following cremation burial was held 10:30 AM Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Garden of Memories in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation was held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, May 21, 2012, at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice in Joan’s name. Joan Caroline was born October 28, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of John and Albertina (Mixdorf) Marsh. Joan grew up in the Waterloo area and graduated from East High School with the class of 1951. After graduating she worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo until 1960. Joan was united in marriage to Robert G. Dahms in Waterloo, Iowa on March 3, 1957. She owned and operated a book store in Waterloo for over 20 years. She later worked for Wal-Mart setting up food demos.

Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. Joan was member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hudson.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in January 2011; daughter, Kerry Ann; son, Andrew Robert and brothers, Donald, Arnold, Richard and Clifford Marsh

Joan is survived by her daughters, Karen and her husband Doug Wulf of Reinbeck, Amy and her husband Randall Biggs of Watertown, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Nathan (Ashley) Hunt of Gladbrook, Holley Wulf of Reinbeck, Sean Love of Watertown, N.Y.; two step grand children, Joshua and Jessica Biggs of Watertown, N.Y.; brothers, Leo Marsh of Marion and John Marsh of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers and sisters-in-law Lonney Chevalier of Cedar Falls, Marian (Leonard) Jensen of Brigham City, Utah, Lois Olson of Waterloo, Clarence (Shirley) Steggall of Decorah, Jeanna Stearns of Alagen, Mich., Jerry (Bobbie) Steggall of Bakersfield, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
