Mary Ann Howard, 84, of Cascade, formerly of Traer, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, Iowa. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 28, at Overton Funeral Home in Traer. Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, Iowa. Overton Funeral Home, Traer, Iowa, is caring for Mary and her family. Condolences may be left at www.overtonservice.com Mary Ann Howard was born November 20, 1928 in Macon, MO, daughter of Free and Edith Henry. She received her education in the Tama and Toledo area and on March 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to Leighton “Buzzy” Howard. Mary Ann and Buzzy made their home in Traer, Rochester, MN, Gladbrook before returning  to the Traer area. After Buzzy’s death on January 22, 2003 she continued to live in Traer and in 2010 moved to the Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, IA where her death came Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the age of 84 years. In free time she enjoyed doing craft work, going to garage sales and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Larry in 2006 and a brother. She is survived by two sons, Roger (Bettina) Howard of Hutto, TX and Ronald “Shorty” Howard of Cedar Rapids, IA , two daughters Janet (Steve) Fillmore of Waterloo, IA and Nancy Howard of Rochester, MN, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
