Kandace K. Stirler

Kandace “Kandy” K. Stirler, 62, of Reinbeck, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center while under the care of the Cedar Valley Hospice. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 20th, 11:00 AM at Saint John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reinbeck with Pastors Bruce Boyce & Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation was held on Monday, March 19th from 5 to 7 PM at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Burial followed funeral services at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Kandy was born on May 14, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Wally H. & Nadine (Boege) Stirler. She grew up in the Reinbeck area and graduated from Reinbeck High School with the class of 1967. After high school, she attended the Hawkeye Institute of Technology to earn a degree as an LPN. She began her career at Park View Manor Nursing Home. She also worked at Westview Acres in Gladbrook, the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, extended care at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital and the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls.

She was an avid sports fan for the Gladbrook-Reinbeck School along with music and drama productions. She also enjoyed attending UNI football games. Kandy would also do mending and sewing for her friends because she enjoyed helping others.

Surviving her are her two sisters Jane Stirler of Cedar Rapids/ Reinbeck and Karen Stirler of Cedar Rapids; aunts LaVon Keese of Des Moines, Helga Stirler and LaVonne Stirler of Reinbeck; many cousins. Kandy was preceded in death by her parents Wally & Nadine, her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
