Mary B. Dahms, 93

Mary B. Dahms, 93, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Cremation rights were accorded. A private family graveside service will be held as per Mary’s request. Memorials may be directed to the Gladbrook Library. The Goettsch Funeral Home in Gladbrook has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.vogelfuneralhomes.com Mary was born November 20, 1917 to LeRoy and Margaret (Henderson) Barger in Beaman, IA. She was raised in the Gladbrook area, graduating from Gladbrook High School, in 1934. Mary was united in marriage to Gilbert J. Dahms on April 28, 1952, in Long Beach, CA. He died March 28, 1996. She was employed with Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, in Central Supply, retiring in 1987. She then was employed with the Iowa Veterans Home in dietary, from 1996 to 2001. Mary enjoyed baking, gardening, flowers, reading, and playing cards. She also embroidered, crocheted, and knitted, making several items. Mary was a former member of the Garwin Ladies Auxiliary. Mary will be missed by her two daughters; Sharon (Bill Lott) Hatch of Whitten, IA, Teresa Rhoden of Marshalltown, daughter in law, Karen Harms of Scott City, KS, nine grandchildren; Chris (Peggy) Harms, Wayne (Lori) Harms, Renee (Kevin) Nerad, Renata (Bryan) Rogers, Roy (Kathy) Harms, LeAnne Paustian, Joy (Brett) McLain, Kenneth (Shelleen) Hatch, Dan (Kori) Hatch, seventeen great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert J. Dahms, a son, Carleton Harms, a son in law, Gordon L. Hatch, a brother, Leonard Barger, and a great grandson.
