Thomas Frederick Dinsdale

Thomas Frederick Dinsdale was born February 18, 1937 on the family farm north of Traer in Tama County, son of Floyd Fleming and Mae Emelia Koster Dinsdale. Tom received his education in the Dinsdale School where he graduated with the Class of 1955. He then began farming and was a member of the Army National Guard where he worked as an airplane mechanic. For the past 17 years Tom has worked at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer and currently was serving as a Supervisor in maintenance. On November 12, 1982 he married Kathryn Lathrop at the Amity Presbyterian Church and they later divorced. In the past 3 months his health has declined and for the past two months has resided in the Ames area to be closer to family. Tom’s death came at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the age of 74 years. He was a member of the Amity Presbyterian Church where he served as and Elder. In his earlier years served on the board for Swiss Valley Farms and various other organizations. In his free time Tom enjoyed spending time with his family especially his granddaughter. He also enjoyed refinishing furniture, carpentry work and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by one son Andrew Dinsdale of Ames, three daughters Meredith Dinsdale of Reinbeck, Jacquelyn Dinsdale and her fianc Nick Spring and Olivia Dinsdale both of Ames, one granddaughter Evangeline Dinsdale, one brother Morris (Mary) Dinsdale of Kansas City and one sister Joyce (Larry) Buchholz of Traer.

Visitation was held at Overton Funeral Home on in Traer on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 2 6 PM. Service was held at Amity Presbyterian Church, rural Reinbeck on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Burial was held at Buckingham Cemetery, Traer.
